Personal Property of Spouses

Not all the properties obtained, acquired, or received during the marriage of a spouse are their community property. In addition to the property owned and possessed by either spouse before they enter into marriage, the following properties obtained, acquired, or received by a spouse during their marriage remain the personal properties of such spouse:

  (1) indemnification or compensation payments obtained for personal injury;

  (2) property specified as the personal property of the heir or legatee under a will or gift contract;

  (3) personal daily necessities; and

  (4) other personal properties.
