Section 2 Relationship Between Parents, Their Children and Other Close Relatives
Article 1067 Where either parent fails to perform their obligation to raise a minor child or an adult child who is unable to live independently, the child shall be entitled to claim child maintenance from such parent.
Where an adult child fails to perform their obligation to support a parent who is unable to work or has a hard life, the parent shall be entitled to claim parental maintenance from such child.
Article 1068 Parents shall be entitled and obligated to educate and protect their minor children, and shall be held civilly liable according to law for damage to or loss of any other person caused by their minor children.
Article 1069 Children shall respect their parents' marriage rights and shall not interfere with their parents' divorce, remarriage, or marital life. Children's obligation to support their parents shall not be terminated due to any change in their parents' marital relationship.
Article 1070 Parents and their children shall be entitled to inherit from each other.
Article 1071 Children born out of wedlock shall have the same rights as children born in wedlock, and no entity or individual may harm or discriminate against them.
A biological parent not directly raising a child born out of wedlock who is a minor or an adult unable to live independently shall pay the child maintenance.
Article 1072 Stepparents and stepchildren shall not maltreat or discriminate against each other.
The rights and obligations of a stepparent and a stepchild raised and educated by the stepparent shall be governed by the provisions of this Code applicable to the relationship between parents and children.
Article 1073 A parent who doubts their child's paternity or maternity for due cause may file a petition with the people's court for confirmation or denial of the paternity or maternity.
An adult child who doubts their paternity or maternity for due cause may file a petition with the people's court for confirmation or denial of the paternity or maternity.
Article 1074 Grandparents or grandparents-in-law shall raise their minor grandchildren or grandchildren-in-law whose parents are deceased or cannot afford to raise them to the extent affordable by such grandparents or grandparents-in-law.
Grandchildren or grandchildren-in-law shall support their grandparents or grandparents-in-law whose children are deceased or unable to support them to the extent affordable by such grandchildren or grandchildren-in-law.
Article 1075 Elder siblings shall raise their minor siblings whose parents are deceased or cannot afford to raise them to the extent affordable by such elder siblings.
Younger siblings raised by their elder siblings shall support their elder siblings who have lost their ability to work and have no source of livelihood to the extent affordable by such younger siblings.
